Film is my life. I got my first taste with a summer filmmaking course, and haven't stopped studying since. For the past two years, I've been studying and producing original content as a member of the Career and Technical Education film and video program at Science Leadership Academy. These experiences in independent filmmaking have led me to actively pursue a career as a filmmaker. When considering which universities to apply to, certain programs truly standout, so it is an extreme point of pride to have been awarded a merit scholarship to attend NYU Tisch.

 

Most people would have their bags packed for New York seconds after receiving their acceptance to NYU. I will instead be studying filmmaking at Temple University in Philadelphia as a student in their Honors Program.

I will continue working with the educational non-profit Rough Cut Media that has formed from the film program in my high school, as well as further establish my presence in Philadelphia as a music video

producer. Most importantly, I will continue my path towards teaching with Temple's College of Education.

While producing films is a passion of mine, my goal is to ultimately teach film. I spent the last

summer as a film instructor at a summer camp in association with the Martha's Vineyard

Film Fest, and I am now teaching a sophomore introductory film class at my high school.

I hope to be teaching and learning whenever I can.

Framing and lighting and camera movement are all so exciting to me, so I plan on

specializing in cinematography. While mastering these tools will help me create

stunning visuals, as a cinematographer my goal is to serve the story.
